Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Cadenza is a Morse code trainer app for iPhone, iPad and Android, and morse-trainer.app is its website with a free Morse code translator, alphabet chart and lesson. Both are made by Trifoil Trailblazer ("we"). This policy covers both. Cadenza works without an account and without ads.
2. What stays on your device
Your learning progress, statistics, streaks, word lists, settings and the messages you translate in the app are stored locally on your device. We cannot see them.
The Listen decoder uses your microphone to turn Morse tones into text. The audio is processed entirely on your device and is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
When you save a Morse postcard, Cadenza asks for permission to add the picture to your photo library. It never reads your photos.
3. What leaves your device, and why
- Purchases: if you buy Cadenza Pro, Apple or Google processes the payment and RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) verifies it using an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history. We never send your name or email to RevenueCat and we never receive your payment details. RevenueCat acts as our data processor under a Data Processing Agreement; transfers from the EU/EEA are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Optional analytics: Cadenza asks whether you want to share anonymous usage statistics, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy. When it is on, PostHog (posthog.com) receives events such as "trainer opened" or "lesson completed", app errors, your app version, platform and the country from your device settings, tied to the same anonymous ID. Your IP address is not used for location, and no messages, word lists or recordings are ever included. When it is off, nothing is sent.
- Postcards: a postcard link carries your short message inside the link, encoded but not encrypted. Anyone who has the link can decode the message, and the link passes through our web host when someone opens it. Do not put anything secret on a postcard.
4. The website
The translator, the alphabet chart and the lesson on morse-trainer.app run entirely in your browser. What you type is not sent to us. A share link carries the message after the # sign, a part of the address that browsers never send to a server.
We count visits with Umami (umami.is), a privacy-focused analytics service that uses no cookies and stores no personal data: page views, the referring site, the country, the device type, and clicks on tool and store buttons. The site is hosted by Netlify (netlify.com), which keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and operation.
Your sound settings and lesson progress are saved in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.
5. Retention and deletion
Data on your device stays until you delete it: reset your progress in the app, clear the app's data in your device settings, or delete the app. Turning analytics off stops new events but does not erase events already sent; email us to ask for their deletion and include the anonymous ID shown in the app if you can.
6. Children
Cadenza is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Analytics are anonymous and optional.
7. Your rights
You can use every feature without an account, turn analytics off at any time, and delete your data as described above. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA) you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you; since we hold almost none, most requests are answered by the steps above, and we answer every email.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
